This is a great, colorful view of the Niagara River Gorge as it looked in 1908. This gorge has been created by the fall of the water from Niagara Falls into the Niagara River. The falls drop into a somewhat large area that is like a small bay. Then, the river narrows as it races down this canyon creating a tremendous flow of water with many eddies and whirlpools. It is not an easy river to navigate at this point.
The view of the gorge, with surrounding wilderness, a whirlpool in the river and railroad tracks around the base of the bluff make this vintage postcard a charming view of the natural wonder of the Niagara Gorge.
